Did you grow up amongst market gardeners or potato merchants? Did you help relations get their produce to market and which markets did they go to? Do you remember Tatti's Crisps? Did the growth of supermarkets have a negative effect on smaller local producers? If you know anything about the history of food production, preparation and - of course! - food consumption, you may be able to help!

Another possible feature being considered for the ODFHS Magazine is a mini project to do with eating - from food production, harvesting, local delicacies or simply the way cooking has changed over the years, any ideas or suggestions to shape this project are very welcome. We simply want to hear from Society Members who can remember what day-to-day food was like . . . whether puddings were a staple or a rare treat, whether fish and chips were commonplace or something you longed to try but were never allowed near. And more importantly, just what became of the leftovers?

If you have information to share, submissions are very welcome - as with the Collecting Memories project, the information you provide is up to you. It can be as long or short, detailed or concise as you want it to be. A recipe, an account of a typical meal at home (or perhaps a school dinner), a description of a particularly extravagant meal or the work involved in harvesting food in the fields - the more varied, the better!

Contributions may be e-mailed to my address (listed in the Society magazine) or sent to the Society's postal address, indicating that the contents are for the Magazine Editor.
