NEW CDs and DVDs

Maghull Overseers Accounts.

A record of the Overseers of the Poor Accounts for Maghull covering the period 1827 - 1838 has been transcribed in Excel format and is now available on CD.  It contains information on who the Overseers were, together with the names of many residents of Maghull who were given financial help during the period.  It's not very often that we can find information on those of our ancestors who were not very well off, but this CD does just that.  The CD is fully searchable.

Price £4.00 plus postage

Ormskirk Land Tax Records

The Society has produced 3 new CDs containing details of Land Tax Records for the periods 1781-1790, 1799-1805 and 1827-1831.  All CDs include photographed pages of the original records held at Lancashire Archives, Preston, together with transcribed copies of the pages which are in both Word and PDF format.  These are easily searchable and reference can then be made back to the original pages.  As these CDs contain names of those living in Ormskirk before the Census, they will be of great value to those researching ancestors in area.  T1781 CD also has names of the men who worked on the construction of the Town Hall in 1878, whilst both of the other CDs contain surname indexes and extracts from Trade Directories of Ormskirk during the period they cover.

Price for each CD is £5.00 plus postage, or you can purchase all 3 CD's for £10.00.

Burscough Town Books & Beef Rolls.

This CD contains records of Burscough Town Council covering the period 1770 - 1850, it charts the appointment of Churchwardens, Constables, Overseers of the Poor and more.  It also lists poor inhabitants of the town who were given free beef each December during the period 1801 - 1825 (some years missing).  The CD has photographs of the original records which have been transcribed (courtesy of Lancashire Archives, Preston) and also a fully searchable transcript of the records.

Price £10.00 plus postage.
