I live in Cheshire and am researching a man as part of a family history research day to be held on Saturday 21st May 2022 at Macclesfield library. The library takes a few details, I do the research and 'reveal all' to the enquirer on Saturday. I realise this is very short notice but I'm stuck!

The man in question is Austin Herrity, born 1881 at Ormskirk. I have found that he died on 11 August 1900, while serving with the South Africa Field Force - Trooper, 8915, 32nd Company, Imperial Yeomanry. His service records state that he was accidentally drowned.

Is anyone able to supply any further details about how he died? Unfortunately the Ormskirk Advertiser is not available on the BNA for 1900. Is there another local newspaper?
