My paternal grandmother was Jane Alty (29/09/1905-16/07/1972), and your Boatfamilies site has confirmed and supplied some useful information.
I have a birth certificate for her sister Mary born in Burscough 03/03/1903 but have been unable to find any more about her. The family story is that she left her siblings to fend for themselves when her parents Margaret and Henry James died (1923 and 1912 respectively).I am hoping the local Family History Soc can help. I now live in Yorkshire.
